A certification is a license to learn.

I was certified in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, in 2018 and returned to diving several years later. Since then, diving has become another form of coursework—one without a syllabus, semester, or final exam.

I now dive primarily in the Northeast, with a particular interest in freshwater, cold-water, and drysuit diving. Every new environment presents another problem to solve, another skill to refine, another reason to get back in the water.

My equipment is part of the learning process, too. I’m interested in understanding not just what I use, but why I use it.
